Katey Sagal
Katey Sagal, an actress/singer who is
extremely talented and versatile in comedy and drama, became a household name
as Peg Bundy (Fox series Married... with Children, 1987). In the course of its
long run, she received three Golden Globe and two American Comedy Award
nominations. Peg Bundy's character was popular and Katey continued to make a
name for herself, not only staring in sitcoms but performing roles that were
completely different from the role that brought her attention. In 2008, she
portrayed the character of Gemma Teller Morrow on Sons of Anarchy (2008). The
character was the mother of a Hell's Angels-like California biker group. In
2011, her performance in this role was recognized with an award for her
performance in the Golden Globe Award as Best Performance by an Actor in a TV
Series-Drama. Catherine Louise Sagal was a child of Sara Zwilling, a director
and singer, as well as Boris Sagal - renowned television and film directors.
Sagal, a Los Angeles native began performing at age 5 and trained in acting and
voice at the California Institute of the Arts in Valencia, California. As a
waitress who sang in her "salad" times She began singing with the
group "The Group With No name," then caught a break when she
connected with Gene Simmons and his 1970s rock band KISS. She also gained
experiences as a backup record singer for Simmons as well as other famous
artists like Bob Dylan and Etta James. In Bette's avant-garde stage shows in
the late 1970s and early 80s she was a dynamic performer as a live performer
with Bette Midler.
